Cut Costs While Deploying Accessible Communications.

How TTY is Deployed Today

In most cases, organizations that have deployed TTY machines have them connected directly to the phone company via analog line. As one might imagine, there is a monthly cost associated with this. In other cases an organization might have a TTY connected directly to the PBX via FXS card. Organizations also incur costs for this setup through the maintenance of the card and/or analog drop to the users desk. The last scenario might involve using a PC modem connected to an FXS port on the PBX. In addition to maintaining the FXS card and analog line drop to the users desk, there is also the maintenance of the users PC and installed modem.  Here are some cost estimates based on each scenario.

Scenario Cost/Month/User Annual Cost/Month/User
Analog Line from the Phone Company $30 $360
Analog Line from FXS Card $20 $240
Analog Line from FXS Card to PC Modem $30 $360

Example

If ABC Corp, with 5000 employees has 50 TTY machines deployed (1% - Many organizations meet a threshold of 2% or more),

1) their residual costs are likely around $18,000/year and

2) this implementation prohibits many other employees from communicating in real time with either Deaf coworkers and/or Deaf customers directly (which by the way can be viewed as an employee/customer satisfaction related cost with an unknown value).

Solution

With Accessibility Resolution and ipTTY, there is really no need to deploy any of the above scenarios as ipTTY connects directly to your VoIP/Hybrid PBX System thus allowing you to leverage the investment previously made in your communication infrastructure. Additionally, because of Accessibility Resolution and the fact that it comes with unlimited licenses, every employee can have access to this communication tool and thus communicate with any other employee or customer regardless of his/her particular ability.

How Video is Deployed for Users who Speak Sign Language

All users prefer to communicate in a manner that is most efficient for a particular user. This is not different for Deaf users who speak Sign Language. Of the organizations who recognize this as a preferred method of communication for their Deaf employees, many of them have deployed Video Phones (VPs) provided by a particular Video Relay Service. Because of the nature of the protocols used on these VPs, the organization deploying the technology for their employee must install them on a separate network. The logic in deploying these devices on separate networks involves security and simply ease of deployment. These separate networks can cost $50-90 per connection per month.

Example

If ABC Corp, with 5000 employees has 10 VPs deployed

1) their residual costs are likely $6000/year or more.

2) The additional costs to maintain these connections are not calculated here however should be noted.

3) Additionally, due to the cost and complexity of this setup, ABC Corp has decided for that its Deaf employees consolidated in a single location will use a single VP for communicating which should be noted as a potential cost related to employee dissatisfaction.

4) Since ABC Corp has only a few VPs deployed, the company did not advertise the fact that it could accept inbound calls from Deaf customers through the use of Video which should be noted as a potential loss in sales.

Solution

With Accessibility Resolution and accessaphoneTC, every Deaf employee who speaks Sign Language can communicate with any other Deaf user (inside or outside of the organizations network) without the need for any special cable/DSL connection. This allows organizations to leverage the investment previously made in their network infrastructure. Additionally, a real Ten Digit Number (TDN) is assigned to each VP so that the organization's Deaf customers who speak Sign Language can now call into the firm and communicate in their preferred manner.
