Meet Section 255 Requirements

Meet Section 255 Requirements

What is Section 255?

Section 255 of the Communications Act, consists of rules, created by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), requiring telecommunications equipment manufacturers and service providers to make their products and services accessible to people with disabilities if such access is readily achievable. More information about Section 255 can be found on the FCC’s Website

If such access is not readily achievable, manufacturers and service providers are required to make their devices and services compatible with peripheral devices and specialized customer premises equipment.

How can Tenacity help?

Tenacity can assist the telecommunications manufacturer and service provider in meeting these requirements through the use of our applications accessaphone (for vision and mobility impaired users), ipTTY (for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Users), and accessaphone Total Conversation (for Deaf users who speak Sign Language).

Many major telecommunications manufacturers and service providers have chosen Tenacity’s products as their Section 255/508 solution and some have even placed our products on their Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT). We include a list of these manufacturers in our compatibility matrix.
