Tenacity Announces Enhanced Accessibility and Usability of

Tadiran Coral for Section 508 Compliance

Today Tenacity announces that accessaphone™ 3.0 and accessaphone ipTTY™ 2.0 are certified with the Tadiran Coral Platform offering compliance with Section 508 to users who deploy the system.  Moreover, Tenacity’s applications that enhance the accessibility and usability of Tadiran phone systems are available through the Tenacity Accessibility Resolution program on the Tadiran GSA Schedule.

Tadiran Coral Features are now accessible and usable with accessaphone and ipTTY applications.

Tenacity, an effective leader within the field of accessible telephony, provide a comprehensive list of Section 508 compliant communication interface options to control Tadiran Phones as well as provide both legacy and modern forms of text communication throughout the Tadiran Infrastructure.  Tenacity’s Microsoft Windows® compatible applications, include, but are not limited to, accessaphone ™ and accessaphone™ ipTTY.

Users with desk phones registered to Tadiran Coral and the accessaphone™ software application engineered by Tenacity Operating, L.L.C. (Tenacity), now have knowledge of the status of the phone through audible notifications. 

  • accessaphone™ with integrated text-to-speech providing audible notification based off of the status of the Tadiran phone, can be controlled via the keyboard only, mouse and keyboard and/or speech recognition controls for individuals who are blind / low vision / mobility impaired.  Employees who prefer to use another screen reader may use accessaphone’s text-to-speech for audible caller ID only.  accessaphone™ is an enhanced interface for the Tadiran Phones and does not replace the Tadiran desk phone. The newly enhanced accessaphone now enables accessible and usable features including –

  • accessaphone™ ipTTY with TTY compatibility, real time text and audio for individuals who are deaf / hard of hearing.  ipTTY helps businesses save money because end users are afforded the opportunity to communicate via TTY using the existing Tadiran infrastructure without the need for additional analog lines, modems, or other equipment and barriers traditionally associated with TTY communications.  The application communicates through IP and uses standard session initiation protocol (SIP) registered as a third-party SIP endpoint on Tadiran Coral Platform. This soft client enables virtually every user on the telephony network to communicate with customer TTY machines, without the need for text relay service.  Additionally ipTTY supports audio and real-time-text via RFC 4103; the future in real time text communication.

- 21st Century C&V Accessibility Act might affect you

There are many new rules in the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act. A review of this Act is highly recommended before your organization considers expanding or replacing your phone system. - TTY Support now more economical on Avaya Aura Systems

Tenacity has just received an official Letter of Compliance from the Avaya DevConnect Program Sr. Business Development Manager Robert Lesniak regarding ipTTY testing compliant with Avaya Aura System Manager, Session Manager and Communication Manager 6.0 as well as interoperable with the Avaya One-X Communicator 6.0.

What is accessaphone and what does it do?

accessaphone is an enterprise application that runs on an individual’s desktop computer. accessaphone provides control of a users enterprise phone via mouse, keyboard and/or voice command. accessaphone provides:

1. Audible information regarding the status of your enterprise phone (i.e. Audible Caller ID, Message Waiting, Who’s On Hold, etc…)

2. Intuitive Keystrokes so that the phone can be easily managed (ex. D for Dial, H for Hold, T for transfer, etc…)

3. Interoperability with Voice Recognition software so that transferring a caller to another extension can be as easy as saying the word “Transfer”.

4. A means to meet telephony accessibility compliance across the enterprise.

Why would someone need accessaphone?

Phones are accessible right? Who doesn’t know how to pick up a receiver to answer a call, push the appropriate buttons to dial the call or place the receiver back on the base station to hang up a call? Does that mean the phones are accessible? Yes, phones do come with a raised bump on the five key but shouldn’t there be more?

What if you are someone who has trouble pressing those keys on the dial pad because of some special physical need? What if you are someone with vision loss and want to know something as simple as who the person is calling you, what missed calls you have or if you have any voice mails? What if you simply just had trouble figuring out how to transfer a call?

Since the phone is an important tool in any office environment, there needs to be more of a push to make this device more accessible to all. There is a solution available now that helps individuals accomplish the above scenarios and it is called accessaphone.
